I am alive!

Hello hello lovers!!  Long time no chat!!  I want to apologize, but like Brittany from Itty Bits of Balance, I feel like blogging is supposed to be fun, my hobby I do in my downtime.  Well, recently all my downtime has been with friends and family.  And of course, my awesome vacation to Europe!!  Here are a few photos from the awesome Mediterranean cruise I went on!!

That would be the Trevi Fountain in Rome- with a couple of my tourist ‘friends’

Florence behind me!

All dressed up for dinnaaahhh

Why yes that is the Roman Colosseum!!

Just an FYI- I am dressed so ridiculously because it was a hot day and I initially wore shorts, but the Vatican/St Peter’s Basilica requires shoulders and knees to be covered.  So I brought my yoga pants along to change into, and I never had a chance to change back into my shorts.

REAL Napoli Coffee!

Italian coffee= jet fuel.  This was my happy before face.  You don’t want to see the after face.

Hello there, Mt Vesuvius!

The trip was everything I could’ve hoped for and more.  If you saw my last post where I briefly noted my longing to see Rome since a European trip was nixed thanks to the Iceland Volcano blowing up the day after we arrived, you know how much this trip meant to me!  We had perfect weather, our excursions allowed us to see everything we wanted (We saw the Vatican, toured inside St Peter’s Basilica, St Angel’s Castle, Plaza Navonna, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon AND the Colosseum in ONE day!), and had a great time enjoying the food and entertainment on board.  I am proud to say I ate very healthily on the trip and had a few indulgences (well, gelato only once at every port is self-control at its best with the hundreds of gelato shops everywhere!).  I also had kick butt workout sessions on the ship thanks to access to a great gym again!  I worked out 4x on a 7 day trip!  Not to mention walking a lot every day!

My free time has also been occupied with the new man in my life.  I have had so many amazing dates with him the last few weeks- Baseball games, concerts, and countless evenings spent cuddling on the couch.  No more details yet, I want to keep him for myself :) But I can say I haven’t been this happy since my father passed more than three years ago.  This is huge for me and I want to hold onto this feeling as long as possible, and so far he makes me beyond happy I am just glowing 24/7!!

Lastly, I have been going to Ultimate Results gym and working with a personal trainer doing some insane circuit training (courtesy a Specialicious deal I purchased).  If you’ve never done circuit training before, here is a link from FitnessMagazine.com explaining just what it is! Let me tell you- it is NO JOKE.  I have worked up a sweat, worked my muscles till they were shakin’ like bacon, and left exhausted but energized and proud.  I have never lifted so heavy in my life!  Today was my 4th session (upper body) and I did rows with 35# weights in each hand- that’s 70#!! I also did pull ups 9ok, assisted pull up machine, still counts!) for the first time in YEARS!  WOOO!  I bought two more sessions and am seriously considering buying a whole package.  I like the motivation a trainer provides and pushes me beyond what I ever thought I could do!

Well, this was a wordy and picture-heavy post.  I hope you all stick around- I have some exciting changes-a-comin’!  (Hint: froyo and blog aesthetics)!!

I hope the past few weeks have treated you all well and I hope you have a FANTASTIC week!  Rock on Lovers :)

PS: On an unrelated note, I have been watching the Bachelorette while writing this post, and seriously this show is SO angst-y it makes me gag.  But, like a train wreck, I can’t stop watching.  I gripe during the whole show how awful and unrealistic it is.  Yet, its been on the whole time!  Please don’t judge me, I also watch Discovery Channel and Jeopardy :)

MIA and weekend roundups

Hello and happy Friday!  Sorry I have been MIA recently, there are a couple reasons as I mentioned I would share in my last post.  One, I have been busy at work as well as spending time with friends and family, and two, seeing someone new has taken a good chunk out of my evening free time for blogging :) As much as I would love to gush about this new man in my life (there is SO much to say, too!), I want to keep this giddyness to myself for a bit :)   I can say this- I haven’t been this happy with a guy in years!  Anyway,  I have a lot to catch up on but don’t have much time this week either!  I am leaving to Europe TODAY and spent all my free time this past week packing, with the man, and attending a US vs Brazil soccer game!!

Awesome club level seats!

Last weekend I spent (sick) with my mom at VA beach.  Nothing too exciting went on- I napped, killed a bunch of bugs, got some sun, shopped, and vegged with my mom.  It was great!  The weekend prior I went with a few girlfriends from college to visit another that just finished getting her Masters at ECU in Greenville. I’m so proud of her! I had such a fun weekend with my loves in NC.

Love these girls

It was a relaxing/crazy/fun-filled/fro-yo-packed/giggle-infused weekend of awesome times and great memories.  There was lots of fun wedding talk for my friend C getting hitched in October, a stop at a new froyo joint everyday for my addiction, some mechanical bull riding (!!), cute cowboys, fun dancing at local bars, and evenings of giggle fits!

Its an addiction :)

The rest of my free time has been spent working out, hanging with my roommate, or spending time with the new man :) Oh, and I have given up trying to be paleo full time.  This weekend I finally gave in and had some sweets I bought for my mom- real tiramisu from an Italian café- SOO SOO good!  deprivation sucks!  I also bought a box (gluten free though!) of cinnamon rice chex- I thought it was a good compromise for cinnamon life (which I really wanted).  Paleo be damned, carbs rule!!  Ill be doing a post soon about my experience doing paleo for about a month.  Needless to say I saw nothing crazy happen- no real weight loss, no amazing energized feeling, etc.  Yet again I feel like I need a push to help me lose these last few pounds.  Starting in June- I will be balls-to-the-wall with workouts (serious) and eating right!
So that’s all you get for today folks!  I am spending the day traveling to EUROPE with one of my best friends S!!  This trip has been a long time coming- we actually were stuck in Paris for a week during the Iceland volcano eruption a couple years ago.  Yeah yeah, spare me on the ‘Oh must’ve been sooo hard to be stuck in the city of Love.’  Well, when you already saw everything you planned to see in your original allotted time, are stressed watching the only english-speaking channel that only spoke of our doom of being stuck in Europe, and realize its a hella-expensive city to be stranded in…you’ll change your mind on how fantastic it is, too.

Not amused with Paris (2010)

Did you have a good Memorial Day weekend?  Any fun vacations coming up?
Rock on Lovers :)   Wish me travel luck!!

Foodie Pen Pals reveal!

Hello lovers!!  Sorry I have been MIA for a bit- my post tomorrow will explain a bit more, but everything in life is going swimmingly and I am just giddy with excitement!  Anyone on to the main event- my foodie pen pals reveal!!

Kandi from we aren’t scared of sugar sent me an amazing box of goodies!  Check it out:

YUM!

Lucky me got to enjoy (and excuse the hangers- laundry day!):

Rice protein shake mix (interesting, I think I will have to have it more, I’m usually a whey girl :) )

Artisan chocolate with salt and pepper- this was great!  So different to taste the spice with the sweet.

An apricot Kind bar- I LOVE kind bars and have yet to try this one.  Needless to say it was gone the next day!

Grawnola- I think Kandi enlisted a spy to know I LOVE granola- and this bar was super healthy and yummy!!  I am totally ordering some!

The silver tube things were Sharkies Omega-3 fruit thingys (yes, that’s the technical term!).  It was like an adult fruit roll up gummy thing but better!

And last but not least- Justins almond butter cups.  I could just die- LOVE almond butter and chocolate- these did not last long at all!

Everything in the box was SOO good!  Thank you so much Kandi for all my treats and healthy bites!  I loved them all!!

So want to get paired up with someone to send you awesome foodie goodies?  Check out Lindsay’s blog and join the fun of the foodie pen pal program!

Rock on lovers :)
